Melbourne’s Magical Musical Tour | February 18, 2010

Playing tunes from both well-known and unsigned Melbourne bands, That’s Our Melbourne takes you on a musical tour of the city and its surrounds every week.

Known as one of the world’s best live music destinations (until dodgy new laws started closing down our venues… but we won’t go into that here), Melbourne is a treasure trove of unsigned talent and unique sounds.

Famous Melbourne bands you can hear on the show include Augie March, Crowded House (yeah, they’re originally from NZ but they made it big in Melbourne!), Something for Kate, Jet, Cut Copy, The Lucksmiths, TISM, Spiderbait, Nick Cave, Hunters and Collectors, The Living End, and many more.

But we also like to play songs from the best unsigned bands Melbourne has to offer, after all it is a city brimming with creative talent (maybe there’s something special in the water because there are over 5000 Melbourne artists listed on Triple J Unearthed alone). Some bands we like include Me, The White Goods, The Surly Mermaids, Major Major, Big Smoke, The Frowning Clouds, and The Basics – and we are always on the lookout for new songs to share on the airwaves.

If you’ve got a favourite Melbourne band that you’d like to hear on That’s Our Melbourne, or maybe there’s a gig you’d like us to come along to, leave a comment or send emails to!
